Welcome To The Silence of Mary Home

In the gospels, Mary is mostly silent, saying yes to God's will. The words attributed to her are very powerful and full of meaning. At the wedding feast of Cana, she instructed the servers, "Do whatever He tells you." John 2:5. Good advice then and now.

The Silence of Mary was founded by Sue and Vern Rudy in 1999, on that advice. Following the urgings of the Holy Spirit, the Silence of Mary is committed to serving Jesus in the chronically poor, whether they live within our family homes or in the inner cities of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania or Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In Harrisburg, we work closely with Dauphin County to identify those that do not have a home or a place to go. The individuals or families may have mental illnesses, mental retardation or physical disabilities. They may be on a housing list, timed out of a shelter, kicked out of a home or place that they were staying. They are young and old. They sometimes stay short term, and some stay for years.

Once a person has been a member of the Silence of Mary family, even after they move into their own place, they stay in contact and visit often. For many, The Silence of Mary has become their anchor in the storm of life.

The Silence of Mary Homes operate purely on the generosity and donations of individuals and businesses, and relies fully on the Holy Spirit as provider. Because we do not accept government monies, we are not tied to limits and regulations regarding God's children.

We can't do this alone. We need your support and prayers to help the poorest of the poor. Click here for information about organizing a food drive, volunteering your time, donating essential items on our wish list or making a monetary donation by check or by credit card with PayPal.

Last night our family members in Harrisburg called an ambulance as our elder grandfather was fighting for his breath. He has been battling with emphysema for many years. Our family was staying by his side all week as he was failing. Please pray for our elder grandfather and family member as we await the news if he will be coming home to us or going home to the Lord.
Pray for both our Bishops that the Silence of Mary Homes are graced to be in their diocese.
We would like to thank the donor who bought the gas stove in the home on Market St. in Harrisburg, PA. It has been installed and the family is very grateful as they are now cooking and baking on a brand new stove. God bless you!
Please pray that we may receive our St. Philomena home in Fort Wayne. Give thanks for the generous donor and all those on the committee and negotiating the sale.
Please pray, give thanks giving and praise to the Blessed Trinity for Connie from Fort Wayne, IN a family member who is recovering from her immediate illness in our Silence of Mary home in Fort Wayne and becoming stronger everyday. She was approved for the newly refurbished home that she will soon be renting and moving into, with her two children. Congradulations Connie! God is with you!
Let us all give thanks and praise to Our God for Jody, who is now living in her new home after full recovery from her burns.
We pray a prayer of Thanksgiving for the donation of applesauce. God knew that some of His children would need it to take their pills and He provided before we even asked. We thank-you Lord for your many blessings!
