The Silence of Mary Home was founded by an all volunteer effort. We appreciate the mutually healing effect of volunteer participation and we have worked to keep that spirit alive over the years.

We are blessed to have so many dedicated volunteers to work in our homes, in our programs and in our business office both as individuals and in groups. Volunteers prepare meals, accompany family members to appointments, celebrate birthdays and holidays, sponsor cultural and recreational trips, clean, paint walls, make repairs, install equipment, serve on committees, manage the office, chair and work on special events as well as many other activities. There are many opportunities to volunteer.  This past June, a Mission Group from Florida came to The Silence of Mary Home. This group of 25 teenagers and 3 adult chaperones willingly gave of their time to help make some much needed home improvements to our family home. Thank you!

A new house has been generously DONATED by one of our benefactor angels to The Silence of Mary Home. We have been praying for this much needed space  as our mission is growing. The duplex home is adjacent to our original house at 1411 Market St. It is a beautiful home that is in very good condition.  God always sends us who and what we need to help his children. A big thank you to our generous donor.

We are truly fortunate to have so many generous benefactors. Another benefactor donated our business office and many others donated all of the office furniture and equipment. God works through our hands and our bodies to do His work. Thanks be to God!


Bishop Kevin Rhodes from the Harrisburg Catholic Diocese visited our home on Sunday, September 4, 2005 to bless our home and our mission. The Bishop presented a lovely statute of the Blessed Mother to Miss Sue.
