The Silence of Mary Home was founded by an all volunteer effort. We appreciate the mutually healing effect of volunteer participation and are blessed to have so many dedicated volunteers to work in our homes, and in our business office both as individuals and in groups. Volunteers prepare meals, accompany family members to appointments, celebrate birthdays and holidays, sponsor cultural and recreational trips, clean, paint walls, make repairs, install equipment, serve on committees, manage the office, chair and work on special events as well as many other activities. There are many opportunities to volunteer.

• Pray for us. Pray with us. Help us send prayer requests out for those in need.
• Organize a food drive, a blanket drive, a coat drive, or a "hygiene" drive with your work, group or church.
  

  
  When organizing a food drive - have volunteers write with a permanent marker on the top of all donated items the expiration date - large enough to see at a glance - that will help with rotation on the pantry shelves, as we will use and give out the about to expire items first.
  
  Group like with like before bringing it over to make it easy to place on pantry shelves. We love and appreciate generosity and donations, but we really love organized donations, because they save us our most valuable resource, time.
  
  

  When collecting hygiene products - you need to know what to collect:
  Washcloth, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving cream and razor, deodorant. Perhaps you could collect just washcloths or just sample sizes of deodorant. It is helpful to us, if you keep like with like - that will make sorting and assembling of kits easier for us. Large zip loc bags (gallon size) are ideal for creating these kits.

   

• Hold a community yard sale fundraiser and donate the funds.
• Join the turkey basket committee, which gathers and distributes over 700 baskets of food at Thanksgiving.
• Join our Gala fundraiser committee or our Luncheon fundraiser committee which work to create joyful social occasions to share God's blessings.
• Help with an office mailing.
• Assemble hygiene kits with us.
• Pray and discern if you're called to help out in a more personal way by providing availability and friendship (mentoring) to our family members. (Warning: Volunteering in this way is life changing. You will be living the Gospel message and building the Kingdom of God here on earth.)
• Of course, we welcome gifts of your treasure as well:
  $20 - will buy a blanket.
  $30 - will provide a box of diapers.
  $50 - will buy groceries for a family meal.
  $100 - will cover prescription medication for a family member.
  $200 - will pay one month's electric or gas bill.
  $500 - will keep the home in toilet paper for one year.
